The Story Behind Holy Fire® Reiki
Founder and President of the US-based International Centre for Reiki Training (ICRT), William Lee Rand, introduced Holy Fire® Reiki in January 2014. During a period of deep meditation, he received signs of a different energy — one he later understood, through his spiritual advisor, to be the energy of the Holy Spirit received from Jesus. He named this energy Holy Fire® Reiki.
The energy has appeared to William three times, upgrading with each visitation: Holy Fire II® in 2015, and the current Holy Fire III® in 2018. Unlike earlier versions, Holy Fire III® does not use a pre-ignition step — the Holy Fire symbol is introduced directly at the Master level, and “placements” are given in place of “attunements.”
It brings about completeness through purification, empowerment, healing, and direction — a more sophisticated energy originating from a higher level of consciousness, evolving alongside a world that is itself constantly learning and expanding.
Why Learn Holy Fire® Reiki?
Reiki is evolving with time. Ever since Master Mikao Usui first introduced it to the world, Reiki healing and training techniques have changed manifold. Traditionally, Usui Reiki involved three levels, with the third level divided into Level IIIA (Master Healer) and Level IIIB (Master or Trainer), the latter taught only to a select few students. Over time, more symbols — including some Tibetan and Karuna Reiki symbols — were added by various Reiki Masters.
Holy Fire® Reiki is an upgraded version of Usui Reiki, where attunements are replaced with “placements,” and Masters receive an “ignition” of Holy Fire. There was a time when attunements were given only in the physical presence of a teacher — today, Online Reiki Courses are taught worldwide, with attunements given at a distance by Masters who are well-versed and powerful enough to transmit energy remotely.
Like the Usui Reiki system, Holy Fire® Reiki Online Courses are available too. The Holy Fire symbol is complete energy in itself, believed to carry the combined power of all four Usui Reiki symbols — for Healing, Balance, Protection, and Empowerment.

Holy Fire III® Reiki vs. Usui Reiki
Technically, Usui Reiki was introduced in Japan by Master Usui, though many other energy healing practices exist. Different countries practice Reiki differently — the Vedic-Usui Reiki taught at IRF includes Vedic concepts such as Chakras and Koshas, while Holy Fire® Reiki involves the concept of Heavens instead of Chakras, among other differences.

Holy Fire Reiki is a new way to transfer the healing energies of Reiki. In the Reiki I class, the student is connected to universal healing energies where the Holy Fire Placement (attunement) is given. In the first week, the student is taught how to give a basic Reiki session, including learning the hand positions.
The Fire Serpent is a technique used within the Holy Fire® system to help clear and align the practitioner’s energy before giving a session. It is taught hands-on during the course as part of the self-preparation practices Reiki practitioners use to ensure a clean, focused channel for healing.
Holy Fire® energy is most commonly described and depicted as a warm golden-orange light, reflecting its purifying, fire-like quality. Many students report sensing or visualising this golden tone during their Placements and Ignitions, though experiences can vary from person to person.
Level I & II is typically completed over a few days to a couple of weeks, giving you a full working knowledge of self and distant healing. Progressing to Master/Teacher level (Level III) usually takes a few months of practice in between, so you enter that training with a settled, confident energy. Enrolling in all four levels together also comes with a fee concession.
